Step 1

Georgia Tech Application for Scholarships and Financial Aid - GT APP

All students wishing to receive funds from federal, state, or institutional sources must complete a Georgia Tech Application for Scholarships and Financial Aid (GT App). 

  • You will need a GT Account username and password to login to OSCAR to access form. To activate your GT account, visit

  • Priority deadline for all students is January 31st.

  • Students who have been awarded funds from outside/private scholarships must also complete a GT App so that the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid may determine the proper disbursement schedule for your funds.


    Step 2

    Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

  • Students wishing to apply for all programs that Georgia Tech's Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid (OSFA) administers, including federal, state, and institutional programs, will need to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

  • Priority deadline for all students is January 31st.

  • Start early and review our FAFSA tips to get you started. Georgia Tech's Title IV school code for the FAFSA is 001569.

  • A valid FAFSA, processed by the U.S. Department of Education, is required for the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid to determine whether you qualify for federal, state, or institutional funds that carry a financial need component. Please note that FAFSA processing can take up to 3 – 5 business days after completion.

  • Georgia residents applying for the HOPE/Zell Miller Scholarship ONLY may complete the GSFAPPS form at  instead of the FAFSA. The GT App is also required.  


    Step 3

    Provide additional information if requested.

  • Some students will be required to complete the process of Verification. Verification is a process through which the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid must verify the accuracy of the information provided on the FAFSA with guidance from the Department of Education.

  • If, and only if, you are selected for Verification, you must complete the Verification process before any awards will be finalized.

  • Case-by-case we are required to review discrepancies and resolve any issues in order to award federal, state, and institutional aid. To resolve a discrepancy our office will request appropriate additional information.

  • Our office will contact students about submitting additional required documents, if needed. Students are encouraged to login to OSCAR on a regular basis to view their Financial Aid requirements and eligibility tab to ensure all documents are submitted on time and to review any outstanding documents that may be required.

  • It important that all documentation is submitted as soon as requested, preferably before the priority deadline. If you are not able to comply, please contact your Financial Aid Advisor.

  • The Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid will make any and all changes required as a result of Verification.


    Step 4

    Review your award offer.

    An award letter will be generated once students have been officially admitted to Georgia Tech and all final transcripts have been received and are articulated.

    Award notices can be viewed via OSCAR. Email notices regarding the award letter for the next academic year will occur during the following times according to student classification:

  • Freshmen: Mid-April

  • Returning Students: Mid-June

  • Transfer Students: Mid-June for Fall entrants.

  • Graduate Students: June-July.

    Graduate students receiving a Graduate Assistantship and/or Fellowship should contact their academic department or outside fellowship sponsors to determine their award levels. As our office becomes aware of additional forms of aid, we will revise your award as necessary.


    Step 5

  • Complete Loan Steps if you wish to receive federal student loans.


      Step 6

  • Once you have registered for classes for a term, check the enrollment requirements, disbursement dates, and student invoice summary.
  • All fees are payable by the deadlines published on the Bursar Calendar for each academic term. Registration is not complete until all fees have been paid.
  • Class schedules will be canceled for students failing to pay their balance in full by the stated deadlines.
